Cultural consumption and educational innovation: a necessary link

Abstract

Justification: The expansion of the Internet and cell phones have contributed to bring about a transcendental cultural change in a very short time and formal educational institutions do not find the appropriate way to connect with students. Question: Can school routines be reformulated so that the new generations feel challenged and feel genuine interest in formal education, or does the digitization of culture (Novomisky, 2020) represent a paradigm shift? Main premises: didactic strategies are not enough to address educational innovation with solvency, because it is not enough with some modifications in the school routine to face the enormous challenges that the future proposes for humanity. Conclusion: Cultural consumption is relevant to approach the subjectivities and meanings that are being built in a permanent relationship with the Internet. Therefore, educational innovation (but not school) should be assumed as a collective strategy to go through the change of cultural paradigm that allows future generations to find in our daily efforts the origin of
their transcendence.
