Psychoeducation as an educational technology

Abstract

Background. This article consists in the account of a process of prevention and mental health promotion, promoted as an educational innovation experience, realized as an extension project (PAT) with students in the secondary level in some schools in Río Cuarto city (Córdoba, Argentina). Aims: To construct and develop competences in topics related to mental health in adolescence evolutionary period. To appreciate the value that the participants give to the workshop. Method: It was realized a psychoeducational workshop, which consisted in two encounters of 1 hour and a half each one, during which one were worked topics relatives to adolescents' mental health. At this moment, were part of the workshop 250 students, which ages were from 11 to 18, with groups composed as well female as male. Results and conclusions: It is identified the need of this kind of interventions in the educational field, the participants could express the importance that they give to the work with this kind of topics. Based on this experience, this article invites to consider this kind of interventions, that creates competences, as an apply educational technology.
