Types of articles

Innova Educa Journal features five types of articles, which correspond to the five sections in each issue. Below is a description of the five types of documents that make up these sections.

Editorial Article
This is the article that introduces each issue of Innova Educa, offering a descriptive overview of the set of articles it contains. In cases where the issue is devoted to a special topic, the editorial article may be written by a guest author.

Empirical or Review Articles
This section is dedicated to two types of research articles: empirical and review.
Empirical articles report quantitative (experimental or non-experimental), qualitative, or mixed-methods research, with data referring to human populations. These may follow either a cross-sectional or longitudinal design. Authors must submit the corresponding research datasets alongside these articles.
Review articles report systematic documentary research, using qualitative or quantitative methods; the latter include meta-analyses.

Essays
This section presents argumentative articles that set out and substantiate the author’s viewpoint on a topic related to educational innovation. Based on the principle of veracity, for an article to be accepted in this section, the premises of its reasoning must be supported by cited sources.

Experiences
This section features articles that describe experiences of educational innovation, implemented either within or outside the university. They describe the situation or context that motivated the innovation, outline its objectives, detail the innovation implemented, and present the results of its application (if results are already available).

Book Reviews
This section presents methodical analyses of recently published books whose content addresses one or more of the themes covered by the journal, namely: educational trends; technologies for learning mediation; educational innovation management; and lifelong learning. Such articles summarize the book’s content, present its central theses, analyze its conclusions, and comment on the contributions it offers to the theoretical or practical field to which it relates.

Supplement
This section features multi-format content in which text—through hyperlinks—is combined with other modes of communication (visual, auditory, audiovisual), creating documentary collages. In this way, it serves as a space for innovation in communication formats.
